Tuesday Morning by The Pogues

Here’s a happy little song by the British/Irish band, The Pogues, who fancied themselves a Punk Band, although they played traditional old-school instruments like the Banjo, Mandolin and Accordion. It’s called “Tuesday Morning.”

The late, great Joe Strummer of The Clash was a member of The Pogues for this album.

I especially like this stanza:

“But I knew that you
WIth your heart beating
And your eyes shining
Would be dreaming of me
Lying with you
On a Tuesday morning”

Funny sidenote: The full name of The Pogues is “Pogue Mahone,” which translated from Celtic Irish into English, means “Kiss My Ass.” So the next time someone says something to you that you don’t like, just say “Pogue Mahone.”
